Kinja'd!!!

My Mazda has solid rear discs and not vented. Found out while fixing my tire after picking up a nail.

Pretty much all rear discs are non-vented.

Heh, just made a TIL Mazda related post but yeah, only the CX-9 has vented rear rotors. Because fat.

In the past, RX-7s had vented rotors as well.

Also, where the Mazdaspeed6 got bigger brakes all around, the Mazdaspeed3 had the same pleb brakes as a regular 2.3L Mazda3. Just the fronts got embiggened.

Yeah. I think it's the wire for the TPMS. It's actually a black wire painted pink

Some trucks and large SUVs would disagree with you.

I think you should paint more of to match it.

And some performance cars. That’s why I said “pretty much all” instead of all.

Most of my cars have had solid rear discs. My Datsun’s have solid front discs.

I’ve got rear drums... I’d rather have discs all around...

Interesting. I’m not surprised. It’s just something I never thought about so when I took the wheel off and looked it was a little “huh, didn’t know that” moment.

It's part of why I chose the 3. After fighting the corollas drums one too many times I said never again.

Maybe paint the whole wheel pink.

It's kinda weird looking when you're used to seeing vented all the time

Hopefully whatever I get after my Versa has 4 wheel discs. That’ll be a likely thing too, I hope anyway. Not looking forward to replacing those things at all.

Yeah, most brake biases are heavily towards the front (plus the physics of stopping). Just be glad they’re lighter and cheaper than vented.

It’s awful. Wear safety glasses/goggles. Those springs can be dangerous.

Instead of the government setting mileage standards they should make drum brakes illegal on new cars

At least then you don’t have to worry about it wearing down to the veins and then locking up on the pads. A buddy of mine had that happen in his Cutlass “Supreme”. We were out of town because we both had girlfriends that lived in a two 2 hours away. It happened as we were leaving to go home. We ended up having to stay another night and fixing it the next morning in a friend of a friend’s garage after he towed it there. Thankfully my girlfriend knew some one who you come out an tow us back to town at 3 pm on a Saturday, in the winter, for free lol. That is the only time in my life I’ve ever missed an entire shift of work at any job. It sucked calling my boss like “hey you know how I’m supposed to be at work in 3 hours? Well I’m 2 hours away and I’m stuck here till tomorrow.”

Cool. My Mini has solid rear rotors. Less rotating mass is a good thing.

If I even look at my rear wheels I just think “I’m gonna spend an entire day doing those brakes. *shudder*.”

I had a pad shear off and the rivets dug into the rotor on my truck. It has solid rotors. They had to be replaced

Try having to take a couple hours a day over a few days because you have only an hour to hour and a half in sub 40 degrees weather.

Never again

I know how that feels. I “helped” my dad do brakes in 10* weather this winter.

Never again.

Na 1999 Micra 1 litre. Two people can lift the back wheels off the ground and move it around (this is an excellent prank by the way) so it doesnt need a lot of stopping power.

We used to try to lift the backs of Metros and Festivas from the pit at the quick lube I worked at.

I don’t mind doing oil changes because that’s like mos apart!

Kinja'd!!! Funktheduck > norskracer98-ExploringTheOutback

Kinja'd!!!0

Oil changes aren’t bad because you can plan them ahead of time and they’re relatively quick.

It’s the “my water pump just died and I have to fix it in the worst weather possible so I can still work” that I hate.
